Friends mania is at an all-time high after the cast of the popular sitcom finally reunited for a one-off special.
Friends: The Reunion, also known as “The One Where They Get Back Together,” was finally broadcast on May 27, after being delayed due to COVID.
The six main cast members, Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green), Courtney Cox (Monica Geller), David Schwimmer (Ross Geller), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay), Mathew Perry (Chandler Bing) and Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani), sat down to reminisce on the show, which has dominated pop culture and become a classic show of all times.
It first aired in 1994 and wrapped up ten years later, with the cast sharing photos of their time on the set compared to today.
But an article from 2004 has resurfaced, which mocked up how the cast would look 20 years later.
It was shared to Reddit in 2020, but interest in the CGI masterpiece soared as the reunion aired.
The double-page spread, from Star, says: “Friends: 20 years later! What they will look like. The year is 2024: Do you know who your Friends are? Star uses computer magic to foresee their futures.”
Alongside photos of the stars, the spread shares computer-generated images of the trios of men and women, and it’s safe to say it’s not the most flattering.
Alongside each image they shared a sentence about their futuristic selves, saying: “Ross: David Schwimmer may go gray by age 57, but he won’t lose any of his boyish charm.
“Rachel: She’ll be puffier, but Jennifer Aniston will always have great hair.
“Joey: Matt LeBlanc will remain every bit the ladies’ man at age 56.
“Monica: Courteney Cox will still be stylish in her late 50s.
“Matthew: Behold the Matthew Perry of 2024—could he be any more jowly?
“Phoebe: Twenty years won’t matter to Lisa Kudrow, who’ll still be flashing that cute smile.”
Fans were suitably horrified by the likeness, although some pointed out 2024 is still three years away.
Commenting online, Wiger_King said: “To all the people talking about how off this is: there is still 4 more years.
Raffaello-Sanzio quipped: “Could they be any more wrong?”
TheLaitas noted: “Everyone except Ross and Pheebs look weirdly fat lol.”
Fan Miss Chanandler Bong thought: “This is horrifying. Wtf. Whoever made this did the Friends dirty!”
