Creature Commandos ‘Was Never Postponed’ to 2025, James Gunn Says

The upcoming animated Creature Commandos, which will kick off the DCU, “was never postponed” to 2025, James Gunn said on Saturday.

A report surfaced recently claiming that animation studio Bobbypills said in a presentation that the series will be released in 2025.

On Saturday, DC Studios Chief James Gunn was asked, “Hey @JamesGunn Creature Commandos was postponed to 2025, if so, that means the DCU only officially starts in 2025”

“It was never postponed,” Gunn tweeted. “Yes, Creature Commandos is all set to come out in 2024. There have never been any delays, thank goodness. Any info otherwise is a well-intentioned mistake or misspeaking.”

Creature Commandos Kicks off the DCU

Fans were shocked when it was revealed that one of the first projects planned for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe was Creature Commandos, an animated show bringing together the creepy, kooky and all together ooky from across DC comics. One of those characters is set to be Frankenstein, a monster hunter based on the famous fictional character played by David Harbour.

When speaking in an interview for his upcoming film Gran Turismo, Harbour broke down his colorful character and how he was sold on the project:

“I didn’t know what it was when it was sent to me; I met with James, and he sort of laid out a lot of stuff. It’s really exciting. He considers it some of the best stuff he’s ever written,” Harbour told Collider. “It’s hilarious, and the character is great. I think it’s been announced that it’s Frankenstein, and it’s a very colorful, terrific character. So, yeah, we’ve started to shoot stuff. I’m not one to really break, but during this, it is wildly funny stuff. So, yeah, we’re shooting. It’s hilarious and I can’t wait for people to see it.”
