Kaley Cuoco’s Based On A True Story Season 2 Renewed By Peacock After Cliffhanger Ending. Based on a True Story, a comedy-thriller starring Kaley Cuoco, has been officially renewed by Peacock for a second season four months after its shocking conclusion.
Based on a True Story has been renewed for season 2 at Peacock, continuing Kaley Cuoco’s record of dark comedic TV programs. The protagonists of the crime thriller are a pregnant real estate agent and her ex-tennis pro-husband, who launch a podcast containing conversations with a friend who is a serial murderer in an effort to capitalize on the true crime trend. Based on a True Story and also starred Chris Messina, Tom Bateman, Priscilla Quintana, Liana Liberato, Natalia Dyer, Li Jun Li, and Annabelle Dexter-Jones in the ensemble cast in addition to Cuoco.
The second season of Based on a True Story is progressing at Peacock, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The news comes four months after the show’s cliffhanger conclusion, in which Ava and Nathan are discovered by Ruby’s husband, played by Aaron Staton’s Simon, cleaning up the mess Ruby’s death left behind in their new house. Since the SAG-AFTRA strike is still going on and the writers’ strike just ended, no date has been given for when season 2 will start shooting.

What To Expect From Based on a True Story Season 2
The cliffhanger ending of Based on a True Story season 1 left more than only Ava and Nathan’s problem of being discovered with Ruby’s murder remains unresolved. Ava’s younger sister Tory, portrayed by Liberato of Scream 6, was seen with Matt, played by Bateman, during their cleaning. The two appeared to have been seeing each other for some time behind the main couple’s back. It does not appear plausible that Tory is aware of Matt’s true identity as the West Side Ripper, even though it is not stated openly at the time.
Season 2 will increase the stakes for Ava and Nathan even higher with the podcast’s success and the two’s current involvement in a cover-up of one of Matt’s killings. Since the pair managed to distribute the podcast anonymously, the police are likely to grow more interested in trying to find out who is behind it, putting them in the legal firing line. Furthermore, while they could persuade Simon that he is intoxicated and hallucinating, it might lead to a continuing game of tension between the three.
How the connection between Tory and Matt develops will be another important aspect of the tale in Based on a True Tale season 2. Given his propensity for killing younger women, including those he likes, it seems likely that Tory could be another victim of the West Side Ripper. However, given his special friendship with Ava and Nathan and his desire to protect the podcast, he might be able to turn it into an exciting new story to share with their listeners.
